Wondering if there are Surf Maps in CS: GO 2?

Are There Surf Maps in CS: GO 2? - Answered

Surf was one of CS: GO’s most popular custom game modes. It featured unique courses where players “surf” from one inclined ramp to another while maintaining their speed throughout the course. The game mode offered a different way to play Counter-Strike, but Surf Maps gave many fans plenty of enjoyment in CS: GO.

Valve officially shut down CS: GO servers back on September 27, and with it, the ability to play classic Surf Maps such as Surf for Points, surf_beginner, and many more. Playing CS: GO 2 and learning its quirks and new features should keep you busy for a while, but you’re already probably thinking about whether there are Surf Maps in CS: GO 2. Read on to find out.

Are There Surf Maps in CS: GO 2?

Yes. There are Surf Maps in CS: GO 2, but they are currently limited in numbers as devs and modders are still figuring out how to port classic custom maps into the new game engine reliably.

Below are some of the known ported CS: GO Surf Maps that have been successfully ported to CS2:

You should be able to find CS2 Surf Map gameplay for the maps listed above on YouTube, as most of these are made available to the public by their respective modders. However, remember that some downloads will have a considerable file size, like the surf_greatriver_xdre4m Surf Map, which is 1.41GB.

The current method to port old CS: GO custom map to CS2 is complicated and requires mounting to games like Half-Life Alyx and Dota 2 for vmap, model, and materials compilation. Until Valve releases official porting tools for CS2, porting Surf Maps and other custom maps will be tedious and unreliable.

Check out our article: Does CS: GO 2 Have Community Servers? – Answered to learn more about the state of Community Severs in CS: GO 2 and how you can replay old Community Server maps.

How to Join Surf Maps in CS: GO 2?

Before joining a Surf Map in CS: GO 2, you must download ported CS: GO 2 Surf Maps and import the map to your CS2 maps folder. Launch the game and start the map using the console after manually adding the downloaded Surf Map to your CS2 maps folder.

  1. Download the CS: GO 2 Surf Map you want to play. For this example, we downloaded surf_utopia_v3.

14. Press Enter to launch the map.

Note: If the method above doesn’t work, check if you have “Install Counter-Strike Workshop Tools” set to YES in the Settings Menu. You can find this setting under the Game tab in the Settings Menu.

Final Thoughts

Surfing in CS: GO 2 is still in its infancy, as modders are still trying to figure out how to port classic maps such as Surf Utopia and Surf Kitsune onto CS: GO 2. Until Valve releases the proper workshop tools for creating custom maps for CS: GO 2, modders must use other methods to compile and port old maps to the new game.

That said, you should be able to try some of the ports we have listed above in the current release version of CS: GO 2. Follow the steps outlined in the guide above to import the Surf Maps to CS: GO 2 and try those classic Surf Maps with CS: GO 2’s improved graphics and physics.

How to Get Stretched 4:3 Resolution in Valorant https://playerassist.com/get-stretched-43-resolution-valorant/ https://playerassist.com/get-stretched-43-resolution-valorant/#respond Thu, 25 May 2023 16:46:16 +0000 https://playerassist.com/?p=220898

VALORANT has become the game to transition to for many players coming from Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. While the two games can differ greatly in overall gameplay (with VALORANT having Agents and Agent Abilities and CS: GO being CS: GO), their gunplay is still more or less similar.

How to Get Stretched 4:3 Resolution in Valorant

VALORANT and CS: GO are both low-time-to-kill tactical shooting games. These games require players to have pinpoint accuracy and quick reaction times. In these games, immediate target recognition and hand-eye coordination are the keys to landing clean and precise shots.

Stretching might seem minor at first glance, but CS: GO players will take every single bit of help they can get from any in-game setting or tweak to gain an advantage over their enemies. Back in the early CS days, players found out that stretching the resolution of their monitors made models in-game look just a little bit wider when viewed through their screens. This configuration was called Stretched Resolution.

To Stretch your Resolution in VALORANT, go to Settings>Video>General>Resolution>Choose any resolution with a 4:3 Aspect Ratio.

What is Aspect Ratio?

Stretched Resolution is the byproduct of forcing a 4:3 Aspect Ratio to a 16:9 Aspect Ratio Screen. The 4:3 Aspect Ratio was the most common back in the early days of computing. CRT monitors were in the 4:3 aspect ratio. If you’re old enough to remember CRT Monitors, you will know how boxy those things were.

6 19
4:3 Black Bars/Letterbox

Modern-day monitors now run in the 16:9 aspect ratio. This is viewed as a more widescreen layout versus the old 4:3 standard format, where the vertical height of the screen is much shorter than the overall width.

1 150
16:9 Standard.

Modern-day monitors now run in the 16:9 aspect ratio. This aspect ratio is viewed as a more widescreen layout versus the old 4:3 standard format, where the vertical height of the screen is much shorter than the overall width.

Two things spawned from forcing 4:3 on a 16:9 aspect ratio, 4:3 with black borders, and Stretched 4:3.

What is 4:3 Stretched?

7 19

4:3 Stretched is a common resolution used in CS: GO because of the aforementioned benefits regarding visibility in-game.

Many pro players compete with this video resolution. You might have seen pro players like s1mple running this stretched resolution with no problem. The stretched resolution is no problem for s1mple because he has been running this resolution for years now.

Read: Valorant Framerate, Refresh Rate, Framerate Cap, and More!

Some glaring problems with the stretched resolution are the lower overall picture quality and the increased perception of speed due to the change in FOV or field of view. H

However, these problems are often overshadowed by the benefits, such as increased player visibility through increased model width and FPS or Frames Per Second because a lower resolution requires less CPU and GPU horsepower to run.

Should you Stretch Your Resolution?

5 21

In VALORANT, the answer is no.

The devs created Valorant to run on nearly any computer. The game’s system requirements are so low you might as run this on your Smart Refrigerator.

Kidding aside, VALORANT is designed to run at the Full HD resolution 1920×1080. VALORANT Devs have done a great job optimizing the game to the point where it doesn’t require more than a 4th Generation Intel Core i5 to run at 100+ FPS.

VALORANT differs from CS: GO in terms of resolution settings, once again, because VALORANT does not have a true 4:3 “Stretched” resolution where the player models and in-game elements are also stretched. This nerfed resolution takes away the advantages of stretched resolution in CS: GO; easier to hit targets. There is no benefit gameplay-wise to stretching your resolution in VALORANT.

How to Stretch VALORANT Resolution

Stretching your resolution in VALORANT only stretches the HUD and worsens image quality. It gives players the placebo effect and maybe some nostalgia for playing 4:3 Stretched in CSGO back in the day.

However, if you still want to use a 4:3 resolution in VALORANT, then follow these simple steps:

  1. Open the VALORANT Settings Menu.
1 149
image 197

2. Under Settings, go to Video.

4 25

3. Under Resolution, pick your desired 4:3 resolution:

image 198

4. Then click on Apply.

image 200

We recommend using the highest possible resolution for 4:3, 1280 x 960, to give you the least blurry image.

Remember to Stretch Before Activity

image 201

4:3 Stretched or 16:9 Native resolution does not matter. In the end, the resolution you play on is once again one of those topics which will come down to purely preference.

If you already play pretty well on the native 1920×1080 resolution, there are possibly zero benefits to switching over to stretched 4:3 resolution. A stretched-out resolution might even make you play worse because reduced image quality will most likely throw you off because of the wonky-looking HUD that’s now stretched.

With enough dedication to the game, these settings won’t even matter. You can frag and win effortlessly, regardless of your settings or peripherals. There is simply no replacement for hard work and practice.

Whatever resolution settings you end up with, remember that a single resolution change will not make you play like Tenz overnight.

How to Show Grenade Trajectory in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive https://playerassist.com/show-grenade-trajectory-counter-strike-global-offensive/ https://playerassist.com/show-grenade-trajectory-counter-strike-global-offensive/#respond Wed, 24 May 2023 14:16:39 +0000 https://playerassist.com/?p=211954

Grenades have been a vital part of CS: GO gameplay for years. Even in the CS 1.6 era, grenades served players for countless hours by providing area damage, smoke covers, and pop flashes.

How to Show Grenade Trajectory in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

In CS: GO, not much has changed except for adding another type of grenade. (Incendiary and Molotov)

It is only a matter of time before players develop insane aim in CS: GO. But to climb the ranks, you will need more than just your mechanical aim to excel; you will need to learn smoke lineups.

Smoke Executes Win Rounds

33

If you happen to watch a lot of pro play, you will know that Grenade lineups are an in-game ritual that players execute to make bombsite entry a little bit easier for their team.

Players at the pro level have such insane aim that they will likely not miss any remotely open shot.

This is where the smokes come in.

Smoking enemy sightlines can help remove just that little bit of vision from the enemy team. Their insane aim is nothing if they can’t even see you.

Practice Your Line-ups with Grenade Trajectory

4 8

There are a ton of lineup guides you can read online for almost any map in CS: GO. But to know how they work and how you can tweak them to suit your needs, you must turn on Grenade Trajectory.

With Grenade Trajectory turned on, thrown grenades create a colored trail from where the grenade was thrown and pings locations where it bounces off before settling on a specific spot. Grenade Trajectory can be very useful for determining precisely what walls or crates your grenade bounces off on so you can adjust your lineups accordingly.

Read: How to Open Cases in Counter-Strike: Global Offense

Practicing Grenade lineups with Trajectory on is most effectively used in a bot match since we can remove the bots and turn on sv_cheats. We have to turn on sv_cheats because this will help us enable a cheat called “noclip,” which removes any model clipping so players can walk through walls. Neat!

How to Turn On Grenade Trajectory

We need to have Developer Console enabled to start using Cheats. So first, let’s turn on Developer Console.

  1. In the CSGO lobby, click the Gear Icon to open the Settings Menu.
    23
  2. Under the Game tab, look for Enable Developer Console.
    24
  3. Switch it to YES.
    25

Now that we have the Developer Console enabled, we can start a bot match. To do this:

  1. In the CS: GO Lobby, click on the Play button
    22
  2. Click on this drop-down menu.
    26 1
  3. Select Practice With Bots.
    27 1
  4. Click on Casual.
    28
  5. Choose the map you want to practice on.
    29
  6. Click Go.
    30

Before anything else, we will need to remove the bots since they will be a distraction, and we are here to practice lineups.

Removing the Bots

  1. Press the “`” button on your keyboard (usually to the left of the 1 button) to bring up the Developer Console.
    31
  2. In the Developer Console, type bot_kick. This should remove all of the bots from the server.
    image 66
image 67

Now that the bots are off the server, we can type in the Developer Console commands to turn on noclip and sv_grenade trajectory 1, enabling us to walk through walls and make the grenade trajectory visible.

  1. Open the Developer Console again by pressing “`” on the keyboard.
    image 68
  2. Type in sv_cheats 1, which will enable cheats.
    image 69
  3. In the Developer Console, type noclip. You will need to bind this to a button on your keyboard or mouse so that you can easily enable and disable it without having to retype it each time. This enables you to walk through walls.
    image 70
  4. Type bind p noclip into the Developer Console and the command will be bound to your P key on your keyboard. You can change this to any key by replacing the p in the command above.
In our case, we bound it to our mouse thumb button or mouse4
    image 71
  5. Now type in sv_grenade trajectory 1. This should enable the Grenade Trajectory Tracers.
    image 72

Like A Shooting Star

34 1

Grenade Trajectory is a great way of showing you exactly the path your grenades travel through before landing on a specific spot.

Read: How to Fix Counter-Strike: Global Offense Black Screen on OBS

These are great to know since some grenade lineups you’ll see online require pixel-perfect accuracy to execute properly. With the Grenade Trajectory shown, you will know what made your lineup work or not work, allowing you to adjust the next time accordingly.

Grenades can be the key to victory! But you have to use them! – as the in-game load screen tips would always say.

VALORANT: Patch 5.07 Skye, KAY/O, Reyna, Yoru Agent Changes Explained https://playerassist.com/valorant-patch-5-07-skye-kay-o-reyna-yoru-agent-changes-explained/ https://playerassist.com/valorant-patch-5-07-skye-kay-o-reyna-yoru-agent-changes-explained/#respond Tue, 04 Oct 2022 10:31:08 +0000 https://playerassist.com/?p=378695

Some of your favorite Agents are getting balance changes for Patch 5.07.

VALORANT: Patch 5.07 Skye, KAY/O, Reyna, Yoru Agent Changes Explained

Patch 5.07 is here, and it comes with some much-needed balance changes that will see some of your favorite Initiators bonked by the mighty nerf hammer while some Duelists get some much-needed buffs.

Lately, Riot Games has noticed an imbalance in Agent roles that they attributed to some buffs that they made to some Agents to make them more relevant in the meta. In one way, Riot succeeded in bringing some overlooked Agents into the forefront, but now the roster is in an awkward position where some Initiators have gotten too good at doing things Duelists should be excelling in.

The following Agent changes seek to balance out VALORANT’s roster and bring some Agents moonlighting as Duelists back to their respective roles.

Agent Balance Changes

Four Agents got the balance treatment for Patch 5.07, namely Skye, KAY/O, Reyna, and Yoru. The keen-eyed among you will immediately notice a glaring similarity between these four Agents – flash abilities.

All four Agents feature some of the best flash abilities in VALORANT. There’s Skye’s versatile Guiding Light, KAY/O’s CSGO-esque pop-flashes, Reyna’s powerful entry Leer, and Yoru’s crippling Blindside.

Unfortunately, among these four Agents, two Initiators have been much better at 1v1 duels than the other two Agents in Reyna and Yoru. Riot Games attributes the discrepancy in Skye and KAY/O’s more powerful flash abilities that allow them to take risky 1v1s.

This resulted in KAY/O and Skye playing the Duelist role better than other Duelists can. Obviously, this isn’t how it is supposed to be, which is why Skye and KAY/O will be receiving nerfs in Patch 5.07.

To accentuate the change further, Riot Games went ahead and buffed Reyna and Yoru’s flash abilities to cement their place in the Duelist role.

Skye Guiding Light

image 99
  • Guiding Light flashbang scaling paradigm changed.
    • The max flash duration of Skye’s Guiding Light now scales from 1s to 2.25s over a .75s charge up after being cast.
    • Guiding Light can no longer be shot and destroyed.
    • New VFX, UI, and sounds were added to communicate new gameplay intent.
    • Unequip Delay out of Guiding Light increased .75s >>> .85s.

More than just a nerf, Skye’s Guiding Light’s whole gameplay mechanic has been changed to differentiate it from a Duelist-esque flash ability.

Gone are the days when you can use Skye’s flash as a pop flash that you can peek out of. With the changes above, Riot Games aims to incentivize the use of Guiding Light as a long-range flash ability by pinning the ability’s duration with the distance traveled.

By changing the flash duration scale, making Guiding Light invulnerable, and increasing the unequip delay of the ability, Riot Games has effectively made the personal use of Guiding Light less rewarding, forcing Skye players to use Guiding Light for their team rather than for themselves.

KAY/O FLASH/DRIVE

image 98
  • Underhand (right-click) flashbang max duration decreased 2s >>> 1.25s.
  • Overhand (left-click) flashbang max duration increased 2s >>> 2.25s.
  • Unequip delay out of both flashes increased .6s >>> .85s.

KAY/O is arguably the worst offender when it comes to having a flash ability that he can use to entry-frag or outduel other Agents in 1v1 situations.

FLASH/DRIVE got a powerful buff a few patches ago that sped up the flash activation significantly. KAY/O could really use it like a CSGO right-click flashbang in that sense, which made it a powerful pop-flash ability for site entry.

Riot Games does not see KAY/O as that type of Agent, which is why they have decreased KAY/O’s right-click flash duration and increased the left-click duration instead. This should help promote a type of gameplay where KAY/O flashes for his teammates rather than for himself.

Like Skye, KAY/O is also getting an unequip delay increase that should make his flash less suitable for duel purposes.

Reyna Leer

image 100
  • Wind-up of nearsight effect decreased .6s >>> .4s.
  • Range Restriction on Leer removed.
  • Nearsight unequip delay decreased .7 >>> .5.
  • Duration decreased 2.6s >>> 2.0s.

Reyna is getting powerful buffs for her Leer in Patch 5.07. While the original Leer was not bad at all, Reyna’s flash ability should now activate faster, and allow Reyna to start shooting sooner. The Leer range restriction has been removed as well, which should help Reyna place her Leer in more strategic spots upon site entry. To balance things out, Riot Games has reduced Leer’s duration from 2.6 seconds to just 2.0 seconds.

Yoru Blindside

image 101
  • Blindside duration increased 1.5s >>> 1.75s.
  • Flash Visual Updates
    • 3P visuals for flashes enemies and allies now render behind the player’s head the moment that the flash starts to fade. This should give a clearer indication of whether players are fully flashed or if the flash has started to fade.
    • 1P visuals when fully flashed now shrink over time to give a better indication of when the full flash will end and the flash fading out will begin.
    • Increased the window for awarding assists on flashes, nearsights, and concusses from 1 >>> 3 seconds after the debuff starts to fade.

Yoru is one of the most complex Agents in the game in terms of gameplay. He sits high up the upper echelon of Agents that are super hard to learn yet are very rewarding once you know how to use them.

Yoru’s Blindside is essential for his style of gameplay, so for Patch 5.07, Riot Games opted to increase his flash ability’s duration. In addition, a host of third-person and first-person visual updates should help Yoru players play around Blindside’s duration more easily.

Specialized Roles

Fans of Skye and KAY/O’s previous gameplay will be saddened by the changes introduced in Patch 5.07. However, these are necessary to keep the balance in roles in check. Initiators can be great entry-fraggers, but Riot Games envisions a roster where Initiators are there to help their teammates successfully secure areas around the map with their utility; rather than use them for themselves.

CSGO: How to Change Field of View https://playerassist.com/csgo-change-field-view/ https://playerassist.com/csgo-change-field-view/#respond Fri, 05 Aug 2022 20:00:00 +0000 https://playerassist.com/?p=219822

Field of View or FOV is the amount of peripheral vision that is available to players in-game. Simply put, FOV is the amount of left and right vision that a person can see from their monitors.

CSGO: How to Change Field of View

A wide Field Of View will help players see more from their left or right, while a narrower Field Of View will make things seem closer than they really are and make it difficult to see more objects from your left or right.

Newer games usually have an in-game option for changing the Field Of View in-game. A Field of View setting is a great addition to any in-game setting since some people get motion sickness with certain Field Of View values.

In CSGO, players can’t change the Field Of View values from the in-game settings menu, but they can be changed through the in-game console.

How to Change Field Of View In CSGO

Field Of View settings can be fun to play around with. Low Field Of View settings can make the whole game look claustrophobic, while the other end of the Field Of View spectrum can make it seem like your player model is running at 100km/h.

However, Field Of View settings cannot be used while playing official servers. This is because Field Of View settings can greatly affect the gameplay to the player’s advantage due to the ability to see more objects from your left or right. Since this is a player modification of some kind to achieve a greater in-game vision, the developers saw it fit not to allow any Field Of View changes in official servers.

Still, if you want to know how to play with the FOV settings in practice games, here’s how to do it:

First, we need to Enable Developer Settings

  1. On the CSGO Main menu, click on this gear icon:
1 125

2. Click on “Game”:

2 28

3. Turn Enable Developer Console to “YES”:

3 25
4 22

Now that we have turned on Developer Console, we can hop into a practice match with bots.

5 18

To change FOV, sv_cheats needs to be turned on. To do this:

  1. Open the Developer Console by hitting the “`” right below the ESC button on your keyboard.
6 15

2. Type in “sv_cheats 1” in the Developer Console.

image 155
image 156

3. To change FOV, open the Developer Console once more and type in “fov_debug x” – change “x” for any value between 1-179.

7 15
FOV 150. This is already giving us a headache.
8 12
FOV 20

Remember when we said you couldn’t change the FOV for official matches? That is still true. However, there is a way to force a custom resolution to get the same FOV effect. If you want to try these settings, here’s how to do it:

  1. From the Steam App. right click on CSGO and choose properties:
10 6
11 7

2. Under General, Launch Options is located at the bottom part of this window:

image 158
12 2

3. Depending on your monitor’s native resolution, simply halve the amount of horizontal resolution. For example, our monitor’s native resolution is 1920×1080.

In this case, we keep the width the same at 1920 pixels but halve the height from 1080 pixels down to 540 pixels.

Here is the result:

9 8

As you can see, the field of view is noticeable wider, but it cuts off half of the resolution from both the top and bottom of the screen. This is the only downside, though, since, with this custom resolution, we can play on any server in CSGO.

CSGO Widescreen

That’s about it! If for some reason you’ve always wanted to try out a wider Field Of View in CSGO then that’s basically how to do it. Easy, right?

Field of View settings is very fun to play with. The super-wide 150 setting in-game makes running in-game seem like you’re going at 200km/h, while the very low 30 FOV setting makes it seem like you’re in ADS mode all the time.

Go ahead and try out these settings in-game to make your CSGO viewing experience just a tad less monotonous.

Common CSGO Terms Used in VALORANT https://playerassist.com/common-csgo-terms-used-valorant/ https://playerassist.com/common-csgo-terms-used-valorant/#respond Thu, 04 Aug 2022 17:00:51 +0000 https://playerassist.com/?p=366632

Rush B! Oh wait, I thought we were playing Mirage.

Common CSGO Terms Used in VALORANT

VALORANT and CSGO have a couple of things in common: Both games are low-time-to-kill FPS games that reward pinpoint accuracy, and both require an attacking side (T for CSGO, Attackers for VALORANT) to plant the Bomb/Spike to win the round.

The similarities in gameplay between these two games made it easy for FPS veterans from other games to switch over and adopt VALORANT’s gameplay mechanics. So it was not surprising to see a ton of CSGO veterans jump to VALORANT as well. After all, VALORANT is arguably the more popular game right now.

It is not uncommon to see a couple of CSGO terms and lingo fly around VALORANT’s text and voice chat either – a testament to just how similar both these games are.

Nevertheless, in this guide, we have listed the most common CSGO terms used in VALORANT, so you do not get left in the dark about what “Force Buy” means in-game.

Common VALORANT Terms and Meaning

If you are relatively new to VALORANT, you might have already encountered some of these terms and have wondered what they mean.

If you are coming from CSGO or other similar FPS games, then some of these terms will be very familiar and more or less the same as those from other similar titles.

Worry not! We have listed down some of the most common terms and slang words in VALORANT to give you a good idea about what they mean when you encounter them in-game.

TermMeaning
Half Buy/EcoSacrifice this round and spend as little as possible to get better weapons in the next round.
Anti-EcoBoth teams are in a Half Buy/Eco round, but one team purchases better guns to get the upper hand.
Full SaveBuy absolutely nothing. Get extra credits to buy stronger weapons in the next round.
Force BuyYou have less than enough money to buy full armor, a decent primary weapon, and a lower-tier weapon with half armor instead.
StackIntentionally placing more players on one side of the map to reinforce that area.
RotateMove from an area you are attacking/defending
(bombsite) to different areas on the map.
CT/CT SpawnDefending Team/Defender Spawn

Wide-peekSwinging out from cover wider than usual to blow past the opposing player’s crosshair placement.
Jiggle-peekA peeking method that aims to show just your character model’s shoulder.

Typically used to bait out a shot from the opposing team player.
CrossfireTwo players position themselves on opposing sides to simultaneously see the opposing team player.
DinkSuccessfully landing a headshot but failed to kill the enemy outright. Lets your teammates know that player is low HP.
Lit/Tagged/HitLets your teammates know you have hit an enemy target but failed to kill them.
DropTypically means to buy your teammate a weapon.
PrefireFiring a common angle before the enemy player becomes visible on your screen.
Heaven/HellTypically denotes locations around the map with an elevated platform and a platform right underneath it.
Play For Picks/DefaultAn attacker-side strategy that aims to get the first kill before they decide to attack a bombsite.
Tap/Fake DefuseQuickly pressing the defuse button will play the Spike defuse sound in VALORANT.

It can be beneficial for baiting out Attacker-side players from post-plant positions, so you can take them out or get a better idea about where they might come from.
StickDefuse the Spike no matter what. Typically called by a teammate who is not on the Spike and actively covers you while you are defusing.
Plant For XX can mean any common Spike plant locations in a particular bombsite.
Default PlantPlant the Spike at the map’s “Default” Spike Plant spot. Typically the safest spot on the bomb site.
Play the BombUsing the bomb to take out enemy team players from a safe spot away from the bomb site.
Play for TimeDefender-side callout that tells teammates to hide and not show themselves.

Typically used when the Attacking team has zero chance of planting the Spike but can still clutch the round if the last remaining Defender is taken out.
RetakeGrouping up and preparing to attack the Attacking team post-plant.
Glass CannonA player who buys a powerful gun with no armor.
Cyka BlyatInfamous “Rush-B” strategy in CSGO’s Mirage map.

Not as common in VALORANT, though.

Terms & Slang

If you are in the dark about some of these terms in VALORANT, then the list above should help you figure out what your teammates mean when they say ‘Crossfire’ or ‘Trade’ in the world VALORANT.

Nevertheless, you are bound to learn what most of these terms mean by playing as frequently as possible, so play many games and have fun!

CSGO: How to Change Round Limit? https://playerassist.com/csgo-change-round-limit/ https://playerassist.com/csgo-change-round-limit/#respond Thu, 21 Jul 2022 19:00:00 +0000 https://playerassist.com/?p=212094

Whether you play Casual or Competitive modes in CSGO, the number of rounds you play is fixed by default. The former lets you play for 15 rounds, and the latter 30 rounds. If you play custom games, you can always change the round limit to something else. Regardless of the number of rounds set for your game, the game ends once you reach the limit.

CSGO: How to Change Round Limit?

You can change round limits if you are not ready to end the party. However, the only way to change the round limits in CSGO is to use a console command. Keep on reading to learn how to modify the round numbers.

Changing CSGO Round Limits

The command to change the round count of each game in CSGO can only be executed in the game’s console. However, the game disables the console by default, and you can not open it without going to the settings menu.

If you have not enabled the console already, follow these steps:

  1. Launch CSGO on your PC.
    Screenshot 38
  2. Select “Options” from the top-right corner of the main menu.
  3. Pick “Game Settings.”
    Screenshot 40
  4. You will see “Enable Developer Console” as one of the options.
    Screenshot 41
  5. Set it to “Yes.”
    Screenshot 42
  6. From now on, you can press “~” to bring up the console.

If you do not want to use the Tilde key, rebind it to another key. In a match or the main menu, pressing the button will always bring up the console.

You can get into a CSGO custom game now that the console is enabled. Pick your team and open the console.

Next, use these steps to change the number of rounds for your game.

  1. Bring up the console.
    Screenshot 45 1
  2. In the console, type “mp_maxrounds” and the number of rounds you want. For example, “mp_maxrounds 16” changes the round limit to 16.
    Screenshot 48
  3. Execute the command.
  4. After executing the command, you can play the desired number of rounds before the game ends.

Games in CSGO have a maximum round limit of 36 rounds, and it is impossible to go any further.

Changing Round Times

You can also mess with the round’s timer with a different command.

For comparison, Casual Mode has a round time of 1:55, and Competitive Mode’s rounds last 2:15. If you want to spice things up by having one-minute rounds or prefer slow rounds of five minutes, here is how you do it:

  1. Open the console.
    Screenshot 45
  2. Type “mp_roundtime” without any quotation marks.
    Screenshot 46
  3. Type in a value in seconds.
    Screenshot 47
  4. Execute this command.
  5. The round times will change after you run the command.

With both commands, you can set up some unusual rulesets. Whether for fun or serious practice, modifying round times and round counts are just a matter of entering a couple of simple commands.

What a Strange Ruleset

When you learn to use the console commands, your power is in your hands. You can set up 1v1 rulesets that end quickly or games that progress at a snail’s pace. Thankfully, you do not need to hack the game to do this at all.

What is the strangest round limit you have set up? Do you use CSGO console commands often? Let us know in the comments section below.

How to convert VALORANT to CSGO sens and vice versa https://playerassist.com/how-to-convert-valorant-to-csgo-sens-and-vice-versa/ https://playerassist.com/how-to-convert-valorant-to-csgo-sens-and-vice-versa/#respond Tue, 19 Jul 2022 19:00:00 +0000 https://playerassist.com/?p=363275

Keeping a consistent in-game sensitivity is one of the keys to building the muscle memory required to execute those juicy flicks.

How to convert VALORANT to CSGO sens and vice versa

VALORANT and CSGO are two of the most popular tactical FPS games in the market today. CSGO has been around for a much longer time and arguably has a bigger fanbase than VALORANT. However, VALORANT is no slouch and continues to rake in thousands of new players every month.

As tac-shooters, CSGO and VALORANT require precise, repeatable, and smooth aim to play at a high level – something that is difficult to do if you’re switching from one game sens to another frequently.

With this in mind, we will teach you how to convert VALORANT to CSGO sens so that you can start getting comfortable with your mouse sensitivity for both games even when you’re switching between both of these games regularly.

VALORANT to CSGO sens FOV

Mouse sensitivity varies from one game to another. But you already probably know that. It all comes down to perspective and how the game devs picture the game environment in these games. In games like CSGO and VALORANT, this is more commonly known as POV.

CSGO has a default FOV of 90 degrees, while VALORANT has a FOV of 103 degrees. This distinction in visual perspective is why your in-game mouse sensitivity in CSGO does not equal your in-game mouse sensitivity for VALORANT.

Convert VALORANT to CSGO sens

To convert your VALORANT sens to CSGO and vice versa, you first have to take note of your VALORANT/CSGO sensitivity.

You can try one of two options when converting your VALORANT to CSGO sens and vice versa.

  • Use a manual conversion table
  • Use an online mouse sensitivity converter

Manual Conversion from VALORANT to CSGO Sens

To convert your VALORANT sens to CSGO sens, multiply your VALORANT sensitivity by 3.18.

(VALORANT Sensitivity x 3.18 = CSGO Sensitivity)

Manual Conversion from CSGO to VALORANT Sens

To convert your CSGO sens to VALORANT sens, divide your CSGO sensitivity by 3.18.

(CSGO Sensitivity / 3.18 = VALORANT Sensitivity)

Use an Online Mouse Sensitivity Calculator

Alternatively, you can pick and use any of the Online Mouse Sensitivity Calculator websites below:

  • Gamingsmart.com Mouse Sensitivity Converter/Calculator
  • Aiming.pro Free Mouse Sensitivity Converter Calculator
  • Mouse-sensitivity.com
  • Sensitivityconverter.com

All these online options pretty much work the same way. You choose the game you are converting from and to and input your Game Sensitivity for the game you’re converting from.

Gamingsmart Mouse Sensitivity Converter/Calculator

Consistency is Key

A consistent and repeatable aim is key to landing those nasty flick shots in VALORANT and CSGO. The only way to get that kind of aim is to train with the same mouse sensitivity, so your brain won’t have to relearn the amount of hand movement required to move the mouse to an exact location.

Through the sensitivity conversions above, you won’t have to worry about altering your mouse movement when switching between VALORANT and CSGO. Fire up the game and enjoy the same consistent mouse feel you enjoy in both games.

FAQ

This section will answer more questions about controlling the CS: GO demo viewer.

How Do I Bind Demo Viewer Controls to Keys?

Typing in a new command whenever you want to pause or rewind the match playback is cumbersome. Binding a key to each of these commands is highly helpful and time-saving. Follow the steps below to do that:

1. Launch CS: GO and open the demo viewer.

2. Hit the tilde (~) key to bring up the command input box.

3. Type in.”bind “[key]” “[command]”“. Make sure the quotes are not missing and capitalize the keys. For instance, to bind the “FN” key to the “demo_pause” command, you will need to type in “bind “FN” “demo_pause”“.

How Do I Create a Match Video Highlight in CSGO Demo Viewer?

One of the best uses of the demo viewer is creating video highlights of your matches. To start recording, hit the tilde (~) key and type in “record [match file name]” in the command input box. The file name should not include any special characters and spaces. To stop recording, use the command console again and type “stop [match file name].”

Of course, the video will not look that cool with the playback menu visible. Plus, it can conceal essential moments in the match. To remove the UI, follow the steps below:

1. Bring up the command console by pressing the tilde (~) key.

2. Type in “cl_draw_only_deathnotices 1”. Afterward, you will only see death indications in the upper right corner.

3. To enable the playback menu again, type “cl_draw_only_deathnotices 0” into the command box.

You can use the same controls while recording a video, like while watching the match; for example, change the playback speed or pause it. Additionally, you can add custom commands by opening the demo editor. Follow the steps below:

1. Bring up the demo menu and click “Edit” at the window’s bottom left corner.

2. Click “New” on the left and give your new command a name.

3. Select the desired command type and set the required values.

4. Click “Ok” to add your command.

Here are the existing Demo Editor GUI command types:

1. SkSkip – skips the playback to your chosen match moment, then resume the playback.

2. StopPlayback – it stops the playback.

3. ScreenFadeStart – the command fades the screen in or out.

4. TextMesageStart – displays your chosen text message and your chosen moment.

5. PlayCDTrackStart – starts playing your chosen track at the required moment.

6. ZoomFov – applies zoom-in or zoom-out effect.

7. ChangePlaybackRate – speeds up or slows down the playback.

What Is the Demo Smoother?

The “Smooth” button is next to the “Edit” button in the demo playback menu. This button enables the Demo Smoother, the most complex tool in the demo viewer. It lets users override the camera view in match files. Here’s a brief instruction on using the Demo Smoother:

1. Launch the game and enable the demo viewer.

2. Click “Smooth” at the bottom left of the playback menu window.

3. Pause the playback and click the “Reload” button on the right hand-site to upload the current view data.

4. Click “Show All” to view the entire camera path in the video.

5. Type in values into the “Start Tick” and “End Tick” fields to select a part of the camera path to work with. Click “Select” to confirm.

6. You’ll see the selected path highlighted in yellow. Click “Show Original” to view the camera path at the selected moment.

7. Click the “Lock Camera” checkbox.

8. Hold down the “Drive Camera” button and use the “W,” “A,” “S,” and “D” keys to control the camera view.

CSGO Demo – Old but Gold

Now that you know how to use the CS: GO demo viewer, you can keep track of your performance, laugh at old match fails, or record video highlights.

Mastering the demo viewer Editor tool may require practice, but custom commands help control the process. And if you learn to use the Demo Smoother, your match highlights will rise to a new quality level.

8 Mirage B-site Smokes You Should Know https://playerassist.com/8-mirage-b-site-smokes-know/ https://playerassist.com/8-mirage-b-site-smokes-know/#respond Thu, 24 Mar 2022 19:07:00 +0000 https://playerassist.com/?p=255728

Mirage’s B-site is home to the most famous tactic known to CSGO; the B-site Rush.

8 Mirage B-site Smokes You Should Know

Mirage’s B-site is arguably the more accessible site to take in Mirage for two reasons; B-site usually only has two CT players on-site, and CT players rotating from both Jungle and A-site will be forced to take a choke point towards B-site through Market. A B-rush tactic is common for T-side because of the apparent numbers advantage.

By the time the CT players make it to Market, the T players will already have the stronger angles and positions (assuming T-side has successfully taken B-site control)

This all sounds nice and easy in theory. In reality, though, one of the entryways to B-site (Apartments) is also a chokepoint that is easy to defend for CT players.

Learning a few essential smokes is crucial in ensuring that you and your teammates make it to B-site safely. Lucky you, we will be learning a few of them today.

The CSGO Smoke Grenade

11

The Smoke Grenade is an incredibly valuable piece of utility in CSGO that is often used to block off enemy sightlines and angles within a bomb site. It is a powerful tool that can help your team enter and take control of bomb sites with ease.

The smoke grenade bounces a few times before it detonates. The number of times a smoke grenade bounces before it settles is dictated by the angle and the type of throw the player employs (right-click/left-click/jump-throw.)

4 11

Another great use for the CSGO Smoke Grenade is thawing out Incendiary Grenades or Molotovs. When thrown directly at Molotovs or Incendiary grenades, the Smoke Grenade acts as an instant fire-extinguisher for the ensuing fires.

The CSGO Smoke Grenades can be purchased within the buy period for 300 credits. The Smoke Grenade can cover a large enough area that blocks player vision during site entry and defense when placed in the ideal locations.

Since the recent major update to CSGO, unused grenades can now be dropped and picked up by any player in-game.

1. Mirage B-site – Market Window Smoke

1 12

The first smoke for today is a classic Market window smoke for B-site.

Market Window is a crucial spot to smoke off since it is common for CT-side AWP players. CT-side AWP players can easily pick off players from B-Apartments and even Van from the Market’s safety.

Fortunately, a Market smoke lineup from Back Alley is straightforward and quite repeatable. There is no reason to skip this smoke when attempting a B-site take.

  1. Go to this corner at Back Alley:
image 54

2. Turn around and look up towards the tall tower:

5 10

3. Aim for this corner on the tower:

image 55

4. Jump-throw the Smoke Grenade:

image 56

When done correctly, the Smoke Grenade should land inside or just around the Market Window:

6 11

2. Mirage B-site – Market Entrance Smoke

2 11

To completely seal off the CT-side’s direct access to B-site, a tandem smoke for Market (Market Window + Market Entrance) is a must.

The CSGO C4 will tick for 45 seconds before it finally detonates, while a Smoke Grenade lasts for 18 seconds. A successful smoke execution for Market will buy the T-side enough time to plant and defend the bomb from the CT players.

Here is a quick and easy smoke for Market Entrance with that in mind.

  1. Go to the same corner as the Market Window Smoke Lineup:
7 14

2. Look towards the same tower:

8 7

3. Aim for the top of this window on the tower:

image 57

4. Jump-throw the Smoke Grenade:

image 59

When done correctly, the Smoke Grenade should eventually settle inside of the Market Entrance:

image 58

3. Mirage B-site – Bench Smoke

3 12

Along with the Van, Bench is another common spot that CT players tend to occupy on B-site.

CT players can easily use the Bench wall to crouch and hide from T-players. In lower elo, a more experienced CT player can get away with a few easy kills on unsuspecting T-players.

image 49

From Bench, CT players have a great angle towards Apartments to work with. Since the Apartment Entrance is a choke point, T-side players can easily fall victim to a spray down from B-Bench.

This quick and easy smoke lineup for B-Bench can help make sure that does not happen, and your teammates can enter B-site from Apartments safely.

  1. Look for this wood beam at Back Alley:
9 8

2. Align yourself with the wood beam:

10 7

3. Place your crosshair at the intersection of the imaginary red lines:

11 4

4. Left-click-throw the Smoke Grenade:

12 6

When done correctly, the Smoke Grenade should land just in front of the B-Bench:

13 3

4. Mirage B-site – Right Arch/Get Right Smoke

image 50

The Arches that separate B-site from B-short is called Get Right/Get Left, much like how the corner at Cache’s Quads is called NBK. These Arches are called such since GeT_RiGhT loves to play at this spot as a CT in Mirage.

For Mirage’s B-site, it is essential to smoke both gaps in the Arches since CT players can use the middle wall as cover from multiple angles.

Another good reason to smoke Arches is that, without smokes, T-players pushing from Apartments will have to hard-clear these spots, which needlessly exposes them to CT players holding from Van, Benches, Market, and B-site itself.

  1. Look for this Window Frame at Back Alley:
14 10

2. Align yourself with the corner of the right side of the Frame:

19 5

3. Aim for the tip of the second steel rod:

16 4

4. Left-click-throw the Smoke Grenade:

17 5

When done correctly, the Smoke Grenade should land and cover the entire GeT_RiGhT area:

20 2

5. Mirage B-site – Left Arch/Get Left Smoke

image 51

This smoke is best when used in tandem with the Get Right smoke. There is very little point to smoking one side of the Arches and not smoking the other side. Smoking both gaps in the Arches will provide the best coverage.

  1. Look for the rightmost wood beam at Back Alley:
22 5

2. Align yourself with the wood beam:

23 2

3. Turn around and aim for this spot on the upper left side of the lamp:

Untitled design
Untitled design 1

4. Jump-throw the Smoke Grenade:

24 2

The Smoke Grenade should bounce clean off of the wall and land on the Left Arch/Get Left:

25 2

6. Mirage B-site – Market Window Re-smoke from Van

image 52

CT players playing from Mirage A-site will take the shortest route towards B-site when playing for a retake most of the time. In this case, B-Market will be the most common spot that CTs try to take control of to gain access to the Mirage B-site.

With this in mind, your team could use a quick Market Window re-smoke when available; here is a quick and easy smoke lineup from Van.

  1. Stand in this corner of the barell:
26 2

2. Turn towards the Market Roof area:

27 3

3. Aim for the middle of this satellite dish:

image 62

4. Left-click-throw the Smoke Grenade:

28 3

A quick and easy smoke lineup for Market Window:

29 4

7. Mirage B-site – Market Entrance Re-smoke from Van

If you manage to get a hold of another Smoke Grenade from fallen enemies, you will want to re-smoke Market Entrance to keep the rotating CT players’ sightlines to a minimum.

The Market Window and Market Entrance smokes are best used in tandem to give the best coverage and protection for T-side on post-plant. Whenever you or your teammates get a hold of an extra Smoke Grenade, these spots are the most important areas to re-smoke on post-plant.

  1. Go to the same barell as the Market Window Re-smoke lineup:
31 2

2. Aim for this small strip on the wall:

Untitled design 2
Untitled design 3
image 63

3. Left-click-throw the Smoke Grenade:

32 1

When lined up properly, the Smoke Grenade will gently bounce off of the wall and land at the Market Entrance:

30 2

8. Mirage B-site – B-short Smoke

Most of the time, the double Arches smokes are enough to keep CT players from taking any more space within B-short. Unfortunately, when the Arches smokes wear out, the CT players can easily initiate a pincer attack from B-short and B-Market.

This simple B-short smoke is enough to deter CT players from pushing beyond the Ladder Room and will buy your team more time to set the bomb off successfully.

  1. Go to the same corner as the Market Smoke lineups at Back Alley:
33

2. Aim at the top left corner of the tower:

image 65

3. Left-click-throw. No jump.

34 2

Nice and simple smoke for B-short:

35 3

Take Mirage B-site like Faze Clan

These smokes are standard-execute B-Rush smokes that have become a staple in Faze Clan’s Mirage gameplay. Feel free to watch a few videos on Faze’s Mirage B-site execute to know how to take advantage of these smokes that we have featured here.

Even if you and your teammates can not play nearly as well as the top pros in Faze Clan, mastering these smokes will at least make sure that your team’s Mirage B-site will be easier than ever before.
