These books are full of fun references that can be twisted and turned into tons of material.

Using little-known references is one of the best ways to connect with others with similar interests. If you enjoy a particular series of Manga books, generate a name based on one of your favorite characters.

You can also look up the meaning of your name using Google and take it from there. Greek mythology, Celtic mythology, and Roman mythology probably reference your name. If your name relates to Thor, you can always use that! Of course, you can probably develop a more unique example than Thor123.

Use A Different Language

If your go-to username is already taken, check it out in a different language. Google Translate is your friend here. See your favorite name in German, Italian, Latin, Spanish, French, Cantonese, Russian, or whatever.

You would be surprised at how different and cool an ordinary word or name is in another language! Even something as simple as your last snack could be a fun username. “sgon mefus” may look fantastic, but it is Welsh for “strawberry scones.”

This also adds mystery and intelligence to your username, which can create the right impression.

Keep Notes

I always suggest this and with good reason. Keeping a notepad next to your computer and writing down cool names or usernames of other players is a great way to develop one of your own. Inspiration rarely appears on demand, so writing something down when it occurs is the way to go.

If you use someone else’s name, make it your own. Change something, personalize it, anything! Just do not blatantly copy it. Take inspiration from everywhere, too! Spotify, Netflix, Wikipedia, forums, Reddit- anywhere you go online is filled with words, names, places, and events. Write names down, build a list, and use it for inspiration when necessary.

Use Something Clever

We all want a username that stands out, expresses ourselves, and is attractive to others with similar interests. For gamers, think of the roles you often play.

Are you out to have the highest K/D ratio on COD? Or do you prefer to be a healer on ESO? Using a mixture of pop culture and your roles is an excellent way to develop a unique and catchy username.

For example, if your character typically takes a Tank role and you enjoy Game of Thrones, use “TheHoundiscoming” or something similar. This describes your intentions and references a popular book series others may be interested in.

What To Do When Your Perfect Username Is Already Taken

As of 2023, Discord has changed its policy surrounding usernames. Instead of their previous system of using numbers at the end of your name, allowing for greater flexibility, they are now following their competitor’s methods.

This means that when you choose a username, that is the username you have to go with. If you want a different username for different servers, you must pay for Discord Nitro. So be careful when choosing your username if it is one you don’t want to be stuck with.

If your desired username is unavailable, you have a few options. The most obvious and most used solution is to add numbers to the end of your username (CoolGuy29388). Although this will usually work, it can make it harder for other people to remember your username unless you pick numbers with some relevance (CoolGuy1984).

Another common method of securing a username is to add “X”s or “O”s to the ends of it (“xCoolGuyx,” “xXCoolGuyXx,” “oCoolGuyo,” or “oOCoolGuyOo”). Again, this will work in most cases, though it is a little overused. Another popular and overused method is “leetspeak,” which means incorporating numbers into your username (C001Guy). This can make your username more difficult to remember, which is something to keep in mind.

Technology points are like resources you can spend in the Technology Tree to unlock technologies and blueprints. Getting their blueprints will allow you to craft machines, learn embalming techniques, become proficient in woodworking, etc. 

You can accumulate three types of points: Red points, Green points, and Blue points. Some of these points can be limited and difficult to obtain. In addition, figuring out how the Tech Tree system works can be a head-scratcher initially. Trust us when we say this game does not like to spoon-feed players. So we have made a list of where you can get these Technology points, including their requirements and how many you can acquire from them.

Green Technology Points

Green stands for nature, crops, trees, and everything organic. It is no coincidence you can gather Green points from nature. Let’s start with the most attainable (but ironically, the most finite) type of Tech point in the game.

Extracting the flesh from a corpse

Extracting the flesh from a corpse is one of the earliest tasks you are bound to do in the game, much to our grave keeper’s demise. The autopsy table is where you do the deed, earning you 1 Green point and 1 Red point.

Chopping Trees

Scattered all over the map are trees you can exhaust, except for those requiring Woodcutter technology to access. Shoveling tree stumps will give you 1 Green technology point. Chopping small, big, and dead trees will provide 1 Green point and 1 Red point.

Clearing out Bushes and Debris

Clearing Bushes and Debris is a vital first step in fixing your cemetery. Each time you dig them out using a shovel, you will acquire 1 Red point and 1 Green point.

Foraging Mushrooms

Brown and red mushrooms usually spawn near trees or in a damp environment. They will drop 1 Green point when foraged.

Gathering Honey

Honey can be gathered from trees with beehives, but take heed of bees that will likely sting you and reduce your health. Along with beeswax, honey, and sometimes bees themselves, you can get 1 Green technology point from these beehives.

Removing Vines

There are prickly-looking vines that can be removed using a shovel. Some of them, oddly enough, will not even budge. Removing these vines earn you 5 Green points.

Harvesting Crops

After being given access to the garden by the Merchant, you can plant crop seeds which you can purchase from the Farmer and Dig in the Village. Harvesting crops will give you 5 Green points each.

Picking Apples

You can see some apple trees near the beach and the Lighthouse. You may also plant apple trees in the Orchard after getting seedlings from Clotho the Witch. Picking apples will give you 1 Green point.

Harvesting Berries

Berry bushes are scattered worldwide, although they’re less abundant than trees. You can plant these bushes in the Orchard. Harvesting berries from the bushes will give you 1 Green point.

Obtaining Clay and Making Ceramics

Clay and Ceramic Bowls are quest items for the bishop, Episcop. A Clay deposit can be found just south of your cemetery. Digging them out will give you 1 Green point. Making Ceramics in the Furnace will provide 1 Green point and 1 Red point.

Digging out Sand

River sand can only be unearthed after unlocking the Sand Mining technology. You can easily spot a sand mound near the river in your workplace. After digging them out, you will receive 1 Green point.

Cooking Food

Crafting food items will give you rations to replenish energy and 1 Green point. You may obtain recipes by interacting with NPCs and looting old chests in your workplace.

Researching items

You can research items to garner Tech points once you access the Church and the Underground Laboratory. You may want to hover over an item first to see which Tech point you will get before studying them.

Red Technology Points

Red points are primarily obtained by doing physical work or crafting materials. These Tech points may be easier to acquire, but labor activities such as forging tools will deplete your energy faster. 

Breaking and mining rocks

Gathering rocks are essential in making different tools, but you can also obtain red points from them. Breaking stones and mining Iron ores will each give you 1 Red point.

Crafting paper

You can also get Red points for crafting the paper. For instance, you will earn 1 Red point and 1 Blue point from making Pigskin Paper.

Woodworking

The number of points you will get from crafting wooden materials will vary on the item. Wooden Flitches, Billet, and Firewood are practically accessible at the start, so they will only give you 1 point. The Carpenter’s Workbench lets you make Wooden Planks and Grave Fences that provide you with 2 Red points. Making Wooden Grave Crosses, on the other hand, will earn you 4 points.

Stoneworking

Crafting simple stone materials such as Nails or Simple Iron Parts will only give you 1 Red point, while Gravestones will drop 5 Red points when crafted.

Making items in the Furnace

The Furnace lets you create all kinds of essential materials necessary to progress in the game—making items in the Furnace can give you Red or Blue points, although you will not get many points.

Making tools and weapons

If you need rusty tools (in case your whetstone breaks), you can forge them in the Anvil. However, it is not a complete waste as you will also get 5 Red points. Your rusty tools will eventually break upon continuous use, but you will not need to replace them if you have a Whetstone.

Decorating a grave

Gravesites need to be embellished with crosses and gravestones to maintain the quality of the cemetery. Each time you decorate a grave, you will receive 1 Red point.

Blue Technology Points

Blue points are the hardest to come by, even though you must spend many of them in the Technology tree. Doing Theology-based activities will earn you all the Blue points that you need. To help you with this, we have prepared a list of some of the easiest ways to obtain Blue points.

Researching body parts

Apart from studying items, you can also research various body parts from corpses in the Study Table. You may get 20 to 50 Blue points depending on which grave part you decide to go for. However, it would be best to spend Science and Faith points before studying them.

Note: Science points and Faith points are what you lose if you dedicate yourself too much to researching the unknown. The most straightforward way to get Science points is by breaking down Clean Papers in the Study Table. Giving sermons in the Church usually supply you with Faith Points.

Crafting Stone Grave Fences

Making Stone Grave Fences is possibly one of the easiest ways to get Blue points. You can obtain 5 Blue points and 2 Red points from crafting Stone Grave Fences. Since Stone Grave Fences are needed in revitalizing your cemetery, try to make stacks of Stone Grave Fences as long as you have a substantial supply of Stones.

Purchasing Books from the Astrologer

Buying books from the Astrologer is another easy method to gain Technology points if you have enough money. One Blue point book costs a hefty amount of 5 silver, but it will give you 25 Blue points.

Writing Stories, Notes, Prayers, etc.

After amassing many writing tools, you can start your journey as an author. Getting there is not easy, though. Before writing on your desk, you must unlock several technologies and gather scarce materials. Ultimately, it will all be worth it as you earn 3 to 5 Blue points each time you write literary works.

There are plenty of other ways to acquire Blue points, but the ones mentioned above are the easiest to achieve. If you have not been grinding for more than 10 hours or purchased the DLCs, you can refer to the tips from this guide.

Director Neill Blomkamp surprised his fans when it was revealed that he was directing the Gran Turismo movie, and it looks like the District 9 legend already has his eyes set on another video game project, Doom.

Blomkamp just shared this image on his Twitter, and it has everyone speculating:

While it’s not an official announcement, Blomkamp taking on a Doom movie makes a lot of sense. Blomkamp has always had a penchant for sci-fi and body horror violence—two things that Doom goes hand-in-hand with.

The last time Doom got a movie adaptation was in 2005 with The Rock, Karl Urban, and Rosamund Pike. Admittedly, the film wasn’t so well-received, and there haven’t been any attempts at another adaptation in almost 20 years.

Admittedly, the Doom franchise has found a resurgence in video games, which could lead to the interest in adapting a film again. Looking at Blomkamp’s previous work, especially his recent horror shorts, he could be the perfect director to tackle a project like Doom. It would also be great to see his name on the big screen. So far, Blomkamp has been more focused on pumping out his video shorts than making full-on films. It was actually kind of odd to see his name on the Gran Turismo film.

A Doom movie has not been officially announced. Watch out for Gran Turismo when it comes to cinemas on Aug. 11.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina alum Tati Gabrielle may have gone toe-to-toe with Mark Wahlberg and Tom Holland in Uncharted. Still, she’s now set to enter another video game adaptation which is set to start production pretty soon.

THR reports that Gabrielle has been cast as Jade in the upcoming sequel to 2021’s Mortal Kombat. We don’t have any details on Jade’s character in the film yet, but she looks to be the second main kombatant cast after reports were going around a  few weeks ago that Karl Urban (The Boys) was up for the role of Johnny Cage.

In the games, Jade is the bodyguard of Princess Kitana, a kombatant in the franchise, and is the love interest of Liu Kang. It’s possible that the confirmation of Jade in the film could mean that the movie is also looking to introduce us to a new live-action Kitana as well; I mean, we already got Mileena in the first movie, and she was supposed to be Kitana’s altered clone. Who knows what kind of lore they’ll build up for the movie?

When it comes to Jade behind the scenes, she was a character introduced in Mortal Kombat II and the green variation of the female warrior template (Kitana was blue; Mileena was pink; Skarlet was red). Each warrior lady also came with their signature weapon, and Jade used a staff.

I thought the film’s version of Mileena was pretty great, and I’d love to see if they can connect the character to Jade and Kitana in the sequel.

No release date has been set for Mortal Kombat 2, but hopefully, we get something by late 2024.

Jack Black recently went viral with his Peaches song from The Super Mario Bros. Movie. With its success, Black and his band Tenacious D have dropped a new animated music video that’s an ode to games from God of War to Red Dead Redemption.

Though a parody of Super Mario was kind of expected with the music video, we also have all kinds of references to other iconic video games, including The Legend of Zelda, Mega Man, Minecraft, Tomb Raider, Sonic the Hedgehog, Team Fortress, and Street Fighter.

Black may be best known for his movie roles, but he did also kickstart a Youtube channel with his kids called Jablinski Games, which evolved to Black just trying out all kinds of games with his kids. The channel wasn’t as active as before, but it did help establish Black as another star in the video game side of the internet. He may not have the followings of internet celebrities like Ninja or PewDiePie, but he’s already Jack Black, so I don’t think internet numbers matter.

2023 seems to be the year of horror game adaptations. After the successful run of The Last of Us on HBO Max, the Halloween season is set to bring us the movie adaptation of the cult horror game Five Nights at Freddy’s.

The first teaser dropped for the film, bringing us into this nightmare version of a Chuck E. Cheese gone murderous. Check this out:

A troubled security guard begins working at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. While spending his first night on the job, he realizes the night shift at Freddy’s won’t be easy to make.

Playing the lead is Hunger Games star Josh Hutcherson, with Matthew Lillard (Scream (1996), Scooby-Doo(2002)) also attached to the cast.

Of course, the real stars of the FNAF franchise are Freddy and his animatronic band of murder robots, and it looks like the movie will be bringing them to life through practical effects. The teaser has been pretty sparing regarding the reveals of the robots, but I guess that’s the difference between teasers and trailers.

With the FNAF games considered to have winded down with the more recent entries, maybe the movie could bring more interest to the audience, especially people who haven’t played the game. We don’t know the film’s full story yet, but it’s cool how they managed to adapt the story of a security guard realizing that he’s got more than he bargained for watching over a pizza place with animatronics animals.

Five Nights at Freddy’s comes to cinemas and Peacock on Oct. 27.

Despite some mean critic reviews, The Super Mario Bros. Movie earned more than a billion at the box office and is set to be one of the highest-earning animated films ever.

Allow me to digress momentarily to congratulate Universal for the tremendous success of Super Mario Bros. Though the film marks a huge success for Illumination, Disney CEO Bob Iger says the film’s achievements are good for the movie industry overall. During an earnings call (via Video Games Chronicle), Iger said, “Good afternoon, everyone… It proves people love to be entertained in theaters worldwide and gives us reason to be optimistic about the movie business.”

Admittedly, there has been a huge debate on whether movies will still be viable in theaters. However, the numbers for Super Mario reveal that audiences are still very willing to come to cinemas post-pandemic.

Super Mario’s success is also particularly huge for animated films in general. With Disney delegating Pixar movies like Luca and Turning Red to straight-to-streaming releases, many audiences thought the studio had lost its fate in animation. However, Super Mario proves that animated films can still make bank at the box office.

A Brooklyn plumber named Mario travels through the Mushroom Kingdom with a princess named Peach and an anthropomorphic mushroom named Toad to find Mario’s brother, Luigi, and to save the world from a ruthless fire-breathing Koopa named Bowser.

Johnny Cage may have missed out on the Mortal Kombat reboot from 2019, but he will debut in the upcoming sequel.

The Wrap reports that WB may have found someone to play the washed-up action star: The Boys’ Billy Butcher, Karl Urban. We don’t have official confirmation yet, but Urban is said to be in final talks to join the film. Should he land the role, he’ll no doubt be one of the biggest names in the movie—then again, we have no idea who else they’re adding to the cast yet.

Though the first film was called Mortal Kombat, we didn’t see the tournament. Instead, we only watched the characters with the weird dragon birthmark train to get invited to the tournament. For now, the stage is set for Earth Realm’s Sonya Blade, Jax, and Liu Kang to join the fight; we also have a new character Cole Young, and it’s implied that he’ll be the one to recruit Johnny Cage to join Raiden’s team of fighters.

I’m disappointed that they didn’t just write Cole to be Johnny in the film. I theorized that Johnny Cage could have been Cole’s stage name after becoming a rising action star, but I guess the character is too boring to be the cocky idiot that Johnny is supposed to be.

I’m just here hoping they find a way to get Jean-Claude Van Damme involved since his movie Bloodsport inspired the whole MK franchise, and Cage was supposedly based on him.

Mortal Kombat 2 has no release date, but you can watch out for Urban in The Boys now streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Many fans are excited to jump back into Peter Parker’s story with Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man 2, though the reveal has been sparse for the title. What’s great is this weekend will give us a little prequel to the game in the form of a comic.

As announced by PlayStation, a prequel to Spider-Man 2 will be coming out as a comic on May 6, Free Comic Book Day. Here’s the description:

In this story, their lives collide as Peter, Miles, and MJ attempt to balance their responsibilities to the city and each other. They keep returning to one of the main themes of the comic: is magic real? Because in this action-packed issue, a beloved Super Villain makes their first appearance in our universe and appears to have supernatural abilities that defy mere webs and fists: none other than The Hood!

The story comes from artist Ig Guara and writer Christos Gage who also wrote the Spider-Man game. I hope it’s extensive enough that you don’t have to play the first game to get caught up. Hopefully, the comic will bring everyone up to speed by the time Spider-Man 2 releases.

There is no official release date for Spider-Man 2, but the game is expected to come exclusively to the PS5 later this year. Watch out for the prequel comic when it comes to a comic book store near you this weekend.

2019’s Mortal Kombat wasn’t perfect, but it tried its best to introduce a lot of the characters from the game. The sequel is underway, and producer Todd Garner may have confirmed two returning faces for MK 2.

Since the tournament didn’t happen in the first movie, we can expect the sequel to go all-out, with Han returning as the soul-stealing Shang Tsung. As for Taslim, while it could be great if he could reprise Sub-Zero again, it’s possible they could be continuing the character’s lore by having him return as the black ninja Noob Saibot. Then again, it’s possible that they could have him play the other Sub-Zero, Bi-Han’s brother, who is the ‘good’ Sub-Zero.

As I said, the film isn’t perfect, but the fight scenes are great, and the characters are fun to watch. It’s a shame that Kano and Kung-Lao had to die, but this lore has zombies in it, so it’s possible they could come back. Even a zombie Liu Kang, was playable in a previous MK entry.

Hopefully, we will see the arrival of several other characters from the games, like Bo Rai Cho or the cyborgs Sektor and Cyrax. The movie also teased that Johnny Cage would be coming, but we don’t have any news of his casting yet.

I’m still somewhat bummed that my prediction of Cole Young being Johnny Cage didn’t come true.

The Mortal Kombat sequel doesn’t have a release date yet, but I think a 2024 release could be realistic.
