Resident Evil fans sure have been eating good lately. After the successful release of Resident Evil 4 Remake a few weeks ago, we now have a new trailer for Resident Evil Death Island; and it brings together every major protagonist from the RE games.
Check this out:
Here’s the official synopsis for the film:
D.S.O. agent Leon S. Kennedy is on a mission to rescue Dr. Antonio Taylor from kidnappers, when a mysterious woman thwarts his pursuit. Meanwhile, B.S.A.A. agent Chris Redfield is investigating a zombie outbreak in San Francisco, where the cause of the infection cannot be identified. The only thing the victims have in common is that they all visited Alcatraz Island recently. Following that clue, Chris and his team head to the island, where a new horror awaits them.
This is actually the fourth movie in the CG-animated Resident Evil series, with the last film Resident Evil: Vendetta releasing back in 2017. We did get Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness in 2021, but that show was a miniseries, so it probably doesn’t count when it comes to RE as a movie series.
You have to admit, it’s kind of amazing how long RE has managed to stretch its brand. On the games side you have all these remakes and mainline entries; and on the other hand you have multiple movie and tv series, all just wanting to give their take on the T-Virus and the Umbrella Corporation.
Resident Evil Death Island comes to theaters on July 7.
