Tekken’s fighting game has had many adaptations, from an animated film to an actual live-action movie. Now, Netflix has dropped a trailer for the CG-animated Tekken: Bloodline.
Here is the official description:
“Power is everything.” At an early age, Jin Kazama learned the family self-defense arts, Kazama-Style Traditional Martial Arts, from his mother. Even so, he was powerless when a monstrous evil suddenly appeared, destroying everything dear to him, and changing his life forever. Angry at himself for being unable to stop it, Jin vowed revenge and sought absolute power to exact it. His quest will lead to the ultimate battle on a global stage — The King of Iron Fist Tournament.
Though the Tekken lore has gotten pretty far in the games, it looks like this anime is returning to the first games with characters like Jun Kazama and Ogre—the Tekken franchise’s first villain. Of course, there would not be a King of Iron Fist Tournament if it was not for Heihachi Mishima, so we get to see him in this series.
While the Mishima family has been in the center of the Tekken franchise for years, it looks like Bloodline will still have appearances from other characters in the game. Hopefully, they get meatier roles in the show, but seeing that the series is called Bloodline, I would expect Jin to be the sole focus of the show, rather than more comic-relief characters like Lawm Paul or Steve.
No specific release date has been set for Tekken: Bloodline, but the series is expected to hit Netflix sometime this year.
